Prim Fingernails (more exclamations warranted to emphasize the revolutionizing fashion coup of the century. please fetch yourself a cuppa while i consult the thesaurus for more superlatives...).

i couldn't write about how guu Nishi could improve her latest shoes without torturing my severely limited expertise in all things sculptie so i came up with my own nails. as i suggested to her in my blogpost, i thought the "poles" for the 3D mesh could be rotated off the front facing view axis. (the first thing in learning any new technology is the funky terminology. makes me feel all above the common plebians it does. not that i don't adore their "huh? wha? say what?" i'm not elevating myself away from you, i'm just hurting myself learning is all. not like you can't do it too. you have to abide the endless pain tho.

i really love my Candy Nails but i got to thinking their business model is failing poor ole me. when i have to buy a new set for every colour change i need i'm sure to go broke. so, after wrestling with Blender to form the damned things (oops, vestigial frustrations abound) i thought "what would i want as a consumer?" one set of nails i can tint for every outfit and occasion is what. so, there you go. EnJoy.

whoever said sculptie making was easy? haha, well, they were wrong. i've poured over a gallon of blood, sweat, and tears to bring this to market. i have the bucket right here. i'm not sure i'll ever recover. you'd be right to feel awful for me. not so much as you'd ruin your day, but hey, keep me in your thoughts when you get really depressed.

converting this design from a primbased one, which just didn't give me the challenge i was looking for, got me developing my Blender skillz. making the mesh was pretty easy, not sure how to get the edges sharper. the hard part involved painting the 128w x 64h targa so the lines acting as borders for the cubes fell in just the right places. thank god for the Aditi preview grid. i have no idea where any of those pixels put on the 2D image would go onto the 3D sculptie without eyeballing them on the test grid and with uploads being free, well, what more do i need to say?

you'd think a perfectly square cube would have a square texture to map to it. i'll have to try that sometime after i get myself some pleasureable company. as it was, the Blender bake gave me that size so who am i to argue? as you can see by the cut, it looks ridiculously easy. that's after 30 or 40 tries of adding a line here, a block there, then filling everything in black. (the tests were in colour so i could distinquish just where things went.)

the mesh i made from Blender was supposed to simulate a beveled surface coming off the base square on all 6 sides. whoa, is that even possible? who the hell even thinks like that let alone articulate it?

after i've fought long and hard with the program to do what i've imagined (staunching the rivulets of cerebral fluid trickling from my ears) i'm stunned. i like that Blender allows you to start up any sculptie mesh with any number of vertices. Wings3D doesn't allow you to add vertices once you start. i'll have to give that a try in Blender once i find that tutorial.

i had thought i might script in some rotations too but hey, i'm no genius. anywho, here it is, the newest frustratingly intense design from the caffeinated mind and arthritic fingers of one tired Second Life resident designer.

i've done it again. now you have 3 choices available to fill all your fashion needs. one barbed and bailing wire wrapped necklace with plain, iron cross, or star options. they're out at my second *BEHOLD* Designs location now. they are copyable with sizing controlled by script. i should have them up on Xstreet soon. maybe after they've completely overturned the applecart (again). as for right now, they're being displayed in glorious 3D so you know what you're getting before committing.

i should have some more options on this design later. i'm working on making the sculpties in Blender now. the iron cross was made in Wings3D. i initially shied away from Blender's UI but since watching a number of video tutorials it's gonna be my sculptie program of choice.

well thankfully i have this blog to post my Xstreet wares. seems the New Products forum has poofed over at the new forum. if it's there, it's useless the way the forum is configured. meh. who needs thousands and thousands of hits?

anywho, the animation is a simple idle stand having your avi move her weight from side to side. i did a video of it's movement so you'll get a better feel for it. i think it works well. it's built with Qavimator using 30 frames to construct the whole scene. it runs at 7 frames per second. (only took me three uploads to get that right).

i configured the "ease in" to be 0.2 sec and the "ease out" at 0.6 so it transitions from one animation to the other nicely. you know how some animations "snap" from one to the other? it's the ease in or ease out settings to blame for that. IM me if you would like it customized to your own needs. i won't trash the other .bvh's on my desktop just in case. have fun.

in my wandering of the grid i'm encountering an increasing number of avatars that attach some ungodly floodlights to themselves that not only light their beautiful faces but the environment too. maybe the beta Snowglobe viewer's shadow settings over emphasize the lighting features. turning OFF the shadows (renderdeferred=false) seems to improve this situation but hey, who wants to live in a world without shadows? come on people, turn down your facelights. it's really a simple task.

there are 3 settings to any light. intensity, radius, & fall-off. fiddledy sticks. keep your radius within reason. the default feature is 10m radius. how's about you take a look at changing that to fit the intended design. you are not trying to light the whole room. or are you?

here's my subtle attempt. both pictures (on/off) taken under midnight settings.

i didn't have any accessories for the new outfit i was making with alaFolie's flexi prim summer dress so i thought i'd make myself something from what i had. i stole the hoop earrings from another set and used their basic torus settings to gang up some bangles. i did some fancy stuff on the pendant. a few cones and half spheres et, voila! costume jewelry. i gave all parts a blue tint to match the dress's field and picked up the poppies with the red glowy sphere in the pendant. genius or what?

Light Up My Life

i've been skulking around some dark SIMs of late. no, no skeery sexual role playing type SIMs (no oddballs waiting for me to pounce on them against my will). just not well lit. it's part of the atmosphere i suppose. unfortunately, if it's totally black, i'm missing something.

so...

i created this light that has a most unusually expected feature. when you point at anything to Buy it, inspect it, or to edit it, the normal animation (if it's not overridden with your AO) points your avi's left arm out to where you are pointing. with this flashlight (offered to the wild for free ~~w/ no mod/transfer rights~~ w/o any permissions) you really give the world a great impression as to what yer looking at.

on top of the normal prim work i added a few scripts that add a light feature and a slight glow around the lightbulb prim. you can turn the light on and off with the chat command "/1 light". this WILL light up your dark spaces. i tried to go easy on the intensity but if anyone complains, toss them a nuke. (please use responsibly. hahahaha...good luck with that.)

this is a design i'm giving away for free. started out fooling around with forming a torus to fit the avatar's diagonals without digging into her skin. turned out quite well. learned a bit about repositioning the primset when it's rezzed onto the attachment point for the first time. why anything you make defaults to upside down and backwards makes no sense to me.

positioning of the 4 path cut torus segments was a bit trying. nothing i knew could join those segments. me thinks there's something to say about mathematically precise geometry. i wound up masking the maddening joints with some copper looking lozenges. the glowy bit's made of fudge. :)

i've been spending quite a bit of time in tropical SIMs of late. must be something about my mind turning to sand. i had initially begun crafting a more edgy barbed wire bundle for my newest design but the torus cross sections used wouldn't conform to a perfect circle. so, this is what i eventually wound up with. i should have some more pieces based on this strand now that all the heavy lifting's been done. hell this could be the start of a franchise.

each microscopic circular section was exhaustingly positioned to encompass a perfect circle of silver, gold, and copper metal tubes. explaining just how they were all positioned is beyond my ability to articulate. suffice it to say it's mathematically challenging to get anything correctly placed in this 3D world.

the necklace has a resizing script for those of you who don't share in my slider vision of feminine beauty with which i use to model said art.

as stated in the earlier review page i was wandering, ... lost again following the breadcrumbs in the dense forest that is Second Life. finding the owner of my journey's desire standing at the entrance of her store was both a surprise and a pleasure. speaking with her, albeit sadly too briefly (be well girl), reaffirmed i was getting ever closer to the orb of warm and fuzzy glow.

exploring my cat nature brought me to gather up some of Mirja Mills adoring Heavy Metal trinkets a little while back. i suspected i broke Mirja's barbed wire necklace since it never had a pendant. i thought about making one and tie it together with hers. didn't have any ideas as to what i'd dangle so i TPd to see if Mirja had anything.

turned out the mace she had (not a pendant) sparked my creative juices. et woila instant aggressive expression. i'd love to tell you how to do it, but then you'd never gain the experience.

i've had this device kicking around for a while now but composing its "promotional elements" (leading to its ultimate success to dominate the grid with fun tings) ran up against some roadblocks. one of which altered my video editing software, the other my sound editing. hmmm, musta been beat since moving to this SATA system. i'm sure i'll get around to fixing that. nonetheless, i did squeeze out a FRAPS vid i shot back in december that didn't need any editing save the sound cut (Armin w/Audrey Gallagher).

That Looks Like It Might Hurt

ever wonder what trouble you could get in if you actually threw down a cube somewhere? if you get bored browsing for that idea half formed in your mind or that item matching your snap from a magazine, you might just ease your suffering if you made it yourself! radical idea, i know, but we all gotta start somewhere. heaven knows there's nothing BUT designers in here. you might just find another world to travel and explore if you dare.

the thigh studs spring from "trying" to fit a thigh strap. why i've never been able to fit them is because of the shape of the thigh. most of the straps i've seen base their prims on a cylinder. there is absolutely NO WAY that you can alter the shape of a cylinder to form around any part of the leg. if you sliced through your leg horizontally along the plane of the earth at any point and looked down on it from above it would look like the following:

all the studs are at polygon junction points. takes 10 of them to make a complete section. placing mini prims at those points while viewing the avatar from within Wiremesh mode can get them placed precisely. these studs were designed for my ava012 body shape. if you aren't using that exact shape, you will have to edit the positions of the studs.

posing is such hard work! what must i do for my art.

i had a customer recommend an adjustment she'd like to the poses she got from me. seems the Qavimator free height for the avi didn't reflect her need to place the pose in her AO (instead of an expected poseball). while my poseballs are set to the height of ground level, the free height poses in the vendors are "unset" by any poseball script. the vendor's choice leaves it to you and your engenuity to be able to position me pose just so's you'd like. my poseballs are sold at a premium 'cause of the script work i did on em. while you cannot look into the script the pose & ball are mod/copy. poseballs are spread throughout *BEHOLD*

thought i'd try something different. the pose is embedded inside the book package. wear the object from your inventory and the books appear with your avis arms holding them to her chest. simple matter of putting natalia zelmanov's script inside the object you want your avi to interface/pose with.

i'm still working on the textures for it but you can have the pose alone while i perfect the books. demo here (thanks Alessa, it's working now, forgot to reset the vendor). i'm working on a few other projects where my building and scripting come into play. my photoshoot ladder, on display here, rezzes a video camera when you fire the pose on Sit. this ladder's also up on SLX.

i always get Virgo mixed up with some sort of sexual harmonics. her name, seemingly derived from virgin confuses the real aspect demonstrated by Virgoans. she's the second degree of Earth vibrations/houses, Taurus being our first. she is organized and can understand intricate and complicated systems. refinement of Earthly concerns towards optimized conditions is cake.

Lilyana Dryke's new designs have caused my dive into the dark and dank destructive depths of punk glory. i'm putting an outfit together using her cutting edge Culpa dress. i'll show you the entire outfit later. part of the feeling gathered while putting all the gear together with Lily's Culpa as the base lead to my designing the bangles you see above.

we are making some much needed changes to the layout of BEHOLD. swing by and have a look. i've added a few vendor stalls along the western border that i'd like new designers to check out. if you're getting your designing feet wet and think you'd like to set out some of your stuff, take a chance.

i love to "build". learning how to adorn the infinite 3D shapes with Photoshop's flat 2D images just seems so daunting. of course, my frenetic and exitable life does not lend itself to maintaining this learning aspect to such a high degree as our most exhalted designers. for that, i'd have to be anti social to get anything done. hmmm. have we come to a crossroads here? i'd rather be dancing, yeah.

nonetheless, as you see spread out in front of me, these frighteningly beautiful bracelets (a set includes both left and right) can be stolen for the paltry sum of 10L$. the FAT pack, including all four colours displayed for your amusement and edification is a mere 25L$. i'll probably be adding more colours since i've learned to save the layered .psd file somewhere on my hard drive. now all i have to do is find it.

the sun can't be stopped. its path through the elliptical orbit (at least as observed from here on mother Earth) is relentless. it shouldn't matter that my computer spits up motherboards, power sources, and hard drives on a regular basis. these are mere inconveniences. the fact that it brings me to my knees with the torrents of tears stemmed by a slight remembrance of dignity shouldn't matter. there's a new astro necklace i should enhance, embrace, and annihilate (oops). i mean entice out of the studio.

surmounting all these problems would be enough to kill any ordinary woman. attached as i am to the survival ego self you'll have to forgive me this bluster. once again, i have surpassed all expectations, there being none shouldn't concern anyone. i'm feeling happy. you can't imagine the sheer number of elements which unwravelled. who the hell's responsible? me? now just wait a minute. can't i blame someone for me? my mom's gonna hear about this!

no matter. the hospital bills have to be paid, the landlord's knocking at the door with his hand out, the pressure's debilitating. and still, a new design from that calm and detached selfless giving Core doth issueth thereby and thereforth verily.

uhuh. i've got some of my shapes out at BEHOLD now. and no, i'm not going to give you a free look at my perfectly sculpted forms right here on this blog. shame on you for even thinking that i would. i suppose i could tease you and tell you to wait for the full nude spread in my new magazine (timed to coincide exactly with Kristianne Matfield's ASpiRE! mag) but that would be a clear case of marketing genius. of which i am not.

i don't have the heart to lie and deceive you my dear readers. isn't that what marketing is all about anyway? i'm not here for that. i'll leave that up to the testesterone driven competive nature of the blog marketeers; a devolving mass of infighting, scandalizing, backstabbing bitches if i ever did see. (oops. did i just say that? heavens! maybe a holiday's in order. haha. one can't escape the truth. i shall soldier on. love you, love you, love you)

anywho, i really would like to belabour the point but i feel the Fashion Planet Feed should be to show new product releases. so, next time yer in the shop, grab one of those radioactive white hot glowing pyramids (as illustrated in the above photo) and have a peek. they are all 30L$ a pop. yes, that's right, i'm not here to make a living off the nameless faceless multitude ripe for plunder. my game includes relating to you on equal footing.

the "mini me" avatar shape is being sold at a slight premium since i had to do some dramatic editing on her. she goes for 40L$. i've preserved all my other features and proportions, just shrunk her height from my normal 100 Amazonian self to zero. a few tweaks here and there and she's the life of the party. yeah, she gets lots of attention.

just put out some neat little whirligigs. they're being displayed on the gold dance floor next to Lilyana's ::eLDee:: wall. i'm selling them on SLX too. get one colour (there's 6 altogether) for 20L. get all six for 100L. if you ever needed something to jazz up your dance floor or party celebrations these are it. your search is over.

you deserve more of me. i so appreciate my new customers and friends who've just discovered my little store. i'm half way busting out full of pride to know you and how much you love me. i've always wanted to be as loved as i am now. i'm tearing up. tissue please.

ever since that first day i ran away from the orphanage. i need more love than most. you can understand that can't you? haha.

i'm having the time of my life now a days and hope i can better my last design as much as you all deserve. as a benefit from my dreamily meandering mindset i have twisted a unique primish masterpiece. sliding your cam into this baby's gonna reveal what little talent i actually have. who was it that said it's the journey not the destination? crock a *** if i ever heard it.

i have bloody gashes from all the head scratching this thing caused me. i'm still boggled by the teeny little ramz head coming from a 450x450 pixel original. i added another 450 on each side so the repeat wouldn't crowd the span so much. i think there's something like 40 or 50 ramz headz end to end on this one. now if you thought about that for a while (bring up yer spreadsheet) you'd see how phenomenal the graphics are in here. that's 54,000 pixels spanning the prim who's dimensions inworld are designated in thousandths of meters. just what kind of fidelity (pixel to pixel) from the original is there on that prim? wrapping these 3D vector prims with 2D bitmap textures is going to take me some time to get my head around. i'm sure glad i never had, wanted, or got any real math skills past grade four.

i may have to fire up Illustrator, see how she paints models in that, or is that only 2D? hmmm. please god, no complicated 3D illustration program. then i have the aha moment. this IS a 3D illustration program!

blood, sweat, and tears. more i should not say. suffice it to say that it was a grueling slugfest wrangling the wee prims to fit into the piece. nonetheless, i'm semi happy with the results indicative of my rapid advancement in occular acuity. if nothing else, it will serve as an historical piece i can look back at and exclaim my horror that i was ever that bold to put out something so primitive.

as it is now you can zoom in real close on the pendant and see the astrological constellations along the ecliptic with their subsequently inscribed common names on the outer most sphere. inside this celestial sphere revolves the blue marble we call Earth. for this particular necklace (i intend to roll out designs for each of the sun signs of the zodiac) i have the constellation Aries foremost. Of course, since it is, and i am, number one. enjoy the sproing.

only available at BEHOLD. all others daring similar designs will be either prosecuted by the full extent of my overwhelmingly powerful reach or embraced most graciously in our sharing of bodily fluids.

there are two locations for the Aries Sun pack within the wide expanse of pinkdomness that is Behold. i've a large mock up on the sales counter for you to be transfixed hypnotically. as well, i might add, there is a pose position that you can jump on to see the necklace suitably positioned on your lovely avi's neck. just hit the "View Necklace" prim and be amazed. put your Cam view in your avi before you do (hit Esc a few times) cause i've scripted the pose to grab your cam to center the necklace in your viewer.

hey, i have to thank everyone for dropping by Behold the other day. it was even nicer to see some of you support the small cadre of designers we have ensconced within our little piece of heaven. i would have liked to have chatted with all of you that came by but since that's relatively impossible since i have to curl up into the bat cave every now and then perhaps i could give you all a guided tour of the highlights here on this channel of communication.

it's really a narrow strip of land only 31 meters wide. the landing point is on the first 512 parcel i ever got. way back when it went for 9000L for a 512 square. those were heady days. this was back in the day when free accounts and the world press started knocking us all down. ah, nostalgia. of course, since then i've expanded my little hole in the ground north and south so that it encompasses a contiguous 4096 square meters. i've got another few parcels i use as sandboxes so my primmage tops at 1992. as it is right now, i have a few (okay a lot) of unfinished projects for the space but there seems to be plenty of ideas that well up. mustn't remain fixed to any particular vision for more than a nanosecond.

from the landing point, depending on just which direction you fall in from out of the sky, the first saleable piece i have out for viewing is a jewelry set (necklace and earrings) directly East. this is one of the few sets that i have out in all its glorious prim splendour. it's only 5 prims for the necklace and 3 for each of the earrings. i like the opposite rotations for the two pendants (one inside the other). kinda reminds me of the spinning whirling universe. the earrings have two reducing spirals, the larger diameters connected in the center encircling a representation of some ancient monetary unit of exchange.

i'm going to be putting an astrological necklace out next. same principles as this one cept the outermost sphere will have a celestial texture on it. yeah, star stuff baby.

it has a nice little case (click the lid to open and close it). if you wouldn't mind, could you keep it open for those who might not be so inclined to click and explore all manner of interesting finds of the universe within the Behold land? you are a darling.

anywho, i'll have more stuffs to bring to your attention laterz. i'm thinking of just how i might give you all a gift for coming. of course, i don't want you to come, grab, and never come again so i'll put my thinking hat on so you'll just have to come often and stay long. maybe a treasure hunt. i'll let you know what i come up with.
